A dated school office transformed into a modern, flexible space for meetings, hosting and focused work
The Principal’s office had not been updated for years. The layout felt awkward, the fireplace was hidden behind a meeting table, and the desk sat in one of the darkest corners of the room. Elisa Design was asked to create a modern, welcoming and flexible space that could comfortably host staff meetings, parent conversations, small events and day‑to‑day work—while reflecting the school’s identity.

THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE
Flexible Meeting, Hosting and Work Space with School Colours
The first step was to re‑plan the room. The conference table blocking the fireplace was removed and a comfortable seating area was created around the hearth, reinstating it as a focal point. The console table was moved into the bay window by the French doors, linking the interior to the terrace where refreshments are served in warmer months.
The Principal’s desk was relocated from the dark entrance corner to a brighter position by the French doors, improving both light and outlook. Large rugs were introduced under the desk and seating area to define zones and soften acoustics. Picture lights were added above the panelling so pupil artwork can be displayed, bringing personality and a sense of pride into the room.
The colour palette draws directly from the school colours: light grey walls keep the space fresh, while a muted blue highlights the fireplace. Hot pink and purple accents in cushions and window seat upholstery add a playful, contemporary twist. The result is a Principal’s office that feels professional yet warm, and adaptable enough for everything from one‑to‑one conversations to small receptions.
